It’s not always easy being a catcher. You spend the entire game in a crouch getting pounded by fastballs, often in the sweltering heat.

Now imagine having to do all of that for four games in the same afternoon, against some of the country’s toughest competition.

That’s what Kylie Frank did at last summer’s Pony Nationals in Sterling, Virginia, for the Northeast Hurricanes Seacoast Showcase team.

“It was the best experience I’ve ever had. That was my No. 1 softball experience,” Frank said.

The Hurricanes lost early and needed to win six games in a row to reach the final eight. But that’s exactly what they did, with Frank leading the way.

The 5-foot-1 Hampstead resident is taking her talents to Central Catholic, and her goal is to start varsity as a freshman.

In her most recent club season, she hit .383 with two home runs, 21 RBIs and seven doubles out of the No. 5 spot.
